Welcome

Welcome to the grand adventure of learning!  Our Library is a place of exploring thousands of books in non-fiction, fiction, biographies, research and more.  Students may check out two books from our on-line library each week.  We offer an annual bookmark contest along and other fun activities to encourage our students to capture the love of reading.  We use the Accelerated Reader program to help students grow in their reading skills and level.  VMS students LOVE to read!

AR Home Connect for Parent Dashboard

Research proves it: Students perform better when parents are actively involved in the learning process. Log on to Renaissance Home Connect to access real-time information, sign up to receive emails with quiz results, stay up to date, and keep your child motivated. Simply click on the AR Home Connect Button here directly to your left.

AR Bookfinder

AR BookFinder helps students, parents, and educators quickly find the perfect book. From over 200,00 quizzes, search by topic or choose from book lists, then refine by reading level, language, and more.  To begin the search for your student's next reading adventure, simply click on the AR BookFinder blue button here directly to your left.

Why Accelerated Reader?

Accelerated Reader is the most widely used reading software program, making reading practice easier, less burdensome, and more reliable. AR provides daily information about student reading and makes it easy to continuously monitor comprehension, track the time

students spend reading, and differentiate reading practice.

It’s all about practice. AR encourages substantial differentiated reading practice to create strong readers. Based on each student’s independent reading level, AR helps teachers set personalized goals for each student, and select books that are difficult enough to keep

students challenged, but not too difficult to cause frustration. In addition, AR helps teachers monitor students’ vocabulary growth, literacy skills development, and reading skills taught through basal readers and other reading textbooks.
