Welcome to Ventura Missionary School, where academic excellence, the arts, and faith are celebrated! Our passion at VMS is to provide an education that nurtures, enhances, and challenges. We desire that our students live a life of integrity, acting out their faith and treating others with respect and love. We desire that our students are academically challenged and love learning. We desire that our students are well-rounded and grow in creativity and artistic expression and knowledge.
We are dedicated to incorporating 21st-century teaching and learning, giving students the opportunity to explore and perfect their critical thinking skills. We are dedicated to teaching the whole child, aware that every child is unique and has different gifts. It is our desire to prepare students not only in the classroom, but on the playing field, on the stage, through leadership opportunities, through chapel time, and through extracurricular activities. Every learning experience at VMS is intentional and presents students the opportunity to apply the knowledge and skills they gain for the good of God's creation.
History
Ventura Missionary School has served Ventura County for over 45 years. VMS was founded in 1980 by public school administrators who wanted to establish a strong academic Christian school that would provide another school choice for the area. From the very beginning, the school was successful and set high academic and behavioral expectations for students, offered challenging, standards-informed curriculum, and created educational requirements for teachers. We employ a group of dedicated Christian staff members who have a passion for teaching through a Biblical world-view. Our teachers consider it a privilege to teach Bible each day in addition to academic subjects and enjoy sharing their Biblical knowledge and life experiences during chapel each week.
